Ten HCAA Athletes Reach Podium at Prov. Track 2008
It was great weekend in Regina for HCAA track and field athletes. Over 100 athletes from HCAA schools attended the 2008 SHSAA Provincial Championship, with ten athletes attaining top three performances in their individual events.
Gerad Dyck of Humboldt was a double medalist in the Junior Boys category, capturing the title
of Provincial Champion in High Jump and silver medalist in Long Jump. In the long jump,
Gerad equalled the distance of the champion, but was placed second after the tie-breaking
formula was applied.
Meghan Flavel of Humboldt also captured a Provincial Championship Gold Medal (Junior
Girls Pole Vault), as well as a silver medal in the Junior Girls 400m.
The other HCAA athletes crowned as Provincial Champions were Brendan Lang (Raymore) in Junior Boys Shot Put and Jesse Kwasnica (Middle Lake) in Midget Boys Javelin.
Andrew Breker of Muenster, also a double medalist, earned a silver medal in the Senior Boys
100m hurdles and a bronze medal in the Senior Boys 100m sprint.
Other HCAA athletes attaining medals at the 2008 Provincial Championship are as follows:

Christie McNab (Punnichy) Silver Midget Girls Shot Put
Ian McLellan (Holdfast) Silver Junior Boys 100m Hurdles
Ryan Bernhard (Muenster) Bronze Midget Boys100m Hurdles
Karsten Hoehn (Lanigan) Bronze Midget Boys Javelin
In the final team standings, the HCAA finished eighth out of fourteen Districts, attaining 202 points. This was a significant drop from last year's fourth place finish (299 points).
