Humboldt Collegiate Boys Collect Provincial Curling Silver
The Humboldt Collegiate Boys Curling team captured the silver medal at the 2010 SHSAA Provincial Curling Championship. The team earned a berth at Provincials by going undefeated at both Pre-districts and Districts. At the Provincial championship in Assiniboia, they opened with a win, but two losses in their next four games dropped them to the C event and clinging to their playoff life after an extra end loss late Friday to the host team. Beginning Saturday morning, the boys won three straight games to end up in the Gold medal game. This game would be the rematch of Friday night’s game against the host Assinboia. The game was tied coming home, but HCI fell just shy in the last end, settling for silver.
The Mixed Provincials were very successfully hosted in Watrous. Strasbourg fell one victory shy of reaching the medal round, while the host Watrous team bowed out one round earlier.
At the Girls Provincials in Glentworth, Ituna had a good run, but could not hang on in the C event to qualify for the playoff round.
